Lantern Fly and Emerald Ash Borer! Yikes!
We regretfully have to inform of these seriously destructive insects!
SPOTTED LANTERN FLY
Spotted Lantern fly is new to our area, and is causing considerable damage to many important plants. THIS IS A SERIOUS PEST! Please visit many of the websites available online, including the information provided on the PA dept. of agriculture website. The main host plants of this pest includes, but is not limited to Maples, ailanthus, walnut, willow, and pines.
What is nearly as disturbing is the irresponsible method some chemical and tree & landscaping companies are suggesting and using to control this pest. Please do not fall into the promise of control utilizing overhead blanket contact sprays, or soil drenches! These are irresponsible methods of control, showing both a lack of knowledge, and a disrespect to clients and nature! Yes, a contact spray will kill on contact, however, there are more thorough and cleaner methods of control. Contact spray will control what is currently on the tree, but will not stop more from coming! Trunk sticky wraps, although cheap, can be utilized in a program, but their control is limited. These should only be used in conjunction with a more thorough pest management plan.
Evergreen Complete Tree Care utilizes only he most effective systemic treatment on the market to control this insect, utilizing a high rate basal trunk application method in early SPRING. This treatment makes the entire tree poisonous to consumption for 1 growing season, and will kill the pest upon feeding. Timing cannot be more important! The insect should be controlled in its early life stage, so that it does not advance to its adult egg laying stage! Please set up your treatments for SPRING! Summer and fall applications will not be done, as it is both irresponsible and a financial waste.
Emerald Ash Borer
This is a very invasive pest that is destroying many ash trees. The pest feeds in a destructive manner, forming serpentine galleries within a tree. Treatments are made through trunk injections or basal trunk applications, and depending on the manner of treatment suggested, will last up to two years. Treatments will be made in Spring and Fall, utilizing only the most proven effective chemicals.
LET US TOGETHER HELP FIGHT BACK AGAINST THESE INVASIVE PESTS, UTILIZING ONLY THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND RESPONSIBLE CHEMICALS AND METHODS OF TREATMENTS!
